I’m so excited and nervous to be heading off to my very first Blogging Conference!! I’m going to the Blogtacular 2015 conference in London on Saturday and I can’t wait. I’ve taken quite a while setting up my blog and bought my Blogtacular ticket as a way of giving me a deadline to “go live” with it. Sometimes I can get stuck in the planning and getting things perfect phase. I always think having a deadline is a great way to force me to get things done! Can you tell I was a last minute essay girl at college? 🙂
I knew I wanted to be a blogger and was totally inspired by all the pictures, video clips and testimonials from Blogtacular 2014, and was determined to go to the next conference AND be able to call myself a blogger when I did! So off I go.
Blogging represents a new start for me. It means I can get creative, write more, learn about website design, explore social media marketing, connect with other bloggers… all exciting and positive things, wrapped up in a large dose of pushing myself out of my comfort zone. The positivity I feel right now having just started my blogging journey is great, but during and after Blogtacular it’ll be off the scale! There are so many awesome bloggers going and I feel a little bit starstruck to be meeting some of them. I think that being around all these creative people, and listening to the inspirational speakers will be incredibly powerful and I’m looking forward to coming away with more enthusiasm, technical advice and inspiration for my blogging future.
So… what to take with me? I’ve been busy researching the most important things to take, and that has been one of the many topics of conversation in the #Blogtacular Twitter chats! Firstly, I wanted to have some lovely new stationery to write down all the new ideas. Also, lovely stationery makes me swoon, so any excuse 🙂 This beautiful notebook and pencil set were given to me by a dear friend and I just love the bright, cheerful colours. The positive messages on them set the right tone I think…
Business cards… eek! I didn’t realise that bloggers attending conferences all hand out cards with their blog contact details on. I didn’t want to be the only one at the party without them, but also I felt a little bit of a fraud having business cards! Being a brand new blogger I didn’t feel official enough to have business cards at first but hey… maybe having them will make me feel more official?! My business cards are quite casual with just my name, my blog name, contact details, and photo. I read a really good tip about taking a binder ring and hole punch with me as a handy way to organise the business cards that I receive from other bloggers. I hope I come home with some!
So, here are the items I’ll be taking with me in one of the bags from my Kipling
- Cute notebook and pencils
- Business Cards
- Hole punch and binder ring
- Tangle teezer (because just looking out of the window makes my hair tangle up)
- EasyAcc portable charger – as recommended by the Blogtacular organisers to recharge my phone after all the photo taking/tweeting/instagramming that I’ll be doing on the day
- Lip balm
- Bottle of water
I hope there’s nothing obvious I’ve forgotten. Oh well, I’m as prepared as I’m going to be! All I need to do is turn up, enjoy myself, meet new bloggy friends and soak up all the creativity and inspiration. I’m so excited, and a little bit nervous (but in a good way). Mostly excited! Wish me luck 🙂
